Spectating Safely

Spectating Rallying Safely

Rallying is one of the most thrilling motorsports in the world, but it’s also one of the most unpredictable. As a spectator, your safety is just as important as the performance of the cars on the stage. Follow these essential guidelines to enjoy the action responsibly.

Choosing a Safe Viewing Spot

Stay in Designated Spectator Areas – These zones are chosen for maximum safety and the best views.
Stand on Higher Ground – Being above the road level keeps you safer if a car loses control.
Avoid the Outside of Corners – Rally cars can slide wide, and standing here puts you in serious danger.
Respect No-Go Zones – These areas are marked for a reason—don’t cross tape or barriers.

Stay Alert & Be Prepared

👀 Always Face Oncoming Cars – Keep an eye on the action at all times.
🚗 Know the Escape Routes – In case of an emergency, be ready to move quickly.
👂 Listen to Marshals & Officials – Their instructions are there to protect you.
📵 No Standing on the Road – Even between runs, a rally stage is never a safe place to be.

Respect the Environment & Others

🌲 Leave No Trace – Take your rubbish with you and respect nature.
🔊 Keep Noise to a Minimum – Marshals and drivers rely on hearing calls and engine sounds.
🦮 Keep Pets at Home – Loud cars and unpredictable movement can be dangerous for animals.

Capture the Action Safely

📸 Use a Zoom Lens Instead of Getting Too Close – The best shots come from a safe distance.
🚧 Don’t Block Escape Routes – Stand where you can move quickly if needed.
🎥 Drones Are Often Banned – Check event rules before flying one.

Enjoy the Rally Responsibly

By following these simple safety tips, you’ll help ensure that everyone—spectators, drivers, and officials—has an unforgettable rally experience. Stay safe, be smart, and enjoy the thrill of rallying!
